First XUV Spectrum!

We successfully produced our first high harmonic spectrum! What is pictured is a spectrum of our source, which is an 800nm beam, up-converted, using neon, gas through high harmonic generation (HHG) to create an extreme-ultraviolet beam (XUV)!

Welcome, new undergraduate student, Jake Murawski!

In the Spring of 2022 he graduated from UW Madison, where he studied Physics, Mathematics, and Astrophysics. Jake joined the group at the beginning of the summer of 2022.

Congratulations Nikhilesh!

Nikhilesh graduated on May 14th with bachelor degrees in physics and computer science! He will be continuing his career at Brown University in their PhD program. Nikhilesh did great work while he was here, and we will miss him, but we wish him all the best on his new adventure in Rhode Island!

New Postdoc Coming Soon!

Congratulations to Rafaella Georgiou for winning the HORIZON Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. Rafaella will join our group for two years in early 2023. Rafaella will use X-ray spectroscopy to probe the chemical speciation of paint materials that led to a revolution in the 15th century, namely the transition from tempera to oil painting in Italy that marked the beginning of the great period of Renaissance art and the creation of some of the most revered masterpieces of all time.
